was recognized as a company-affiliated research center in June 2000, with about 20 researchers (50% with a master’s degree or higher) with expertise in each field immersed in reach by dividing into product and material research rooms, recognizing that research power leads to competitiveness.

Center develops and successfully applies to products various differentiated materials such as anti-wrinkle, whitening, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, body odor prevention, and sunscreen materials through research on oriental/natural substances, greatly contributing to solidifying Saimdang Cosmetics’ competitiveness.

Moreover, the research center published academic papers both at home and abroad, registered invention patents, as well as received the SME Technology Innovation Award 6 times, Korea Technology Award 1 time, and a new technology certification 3 times. In recognition for the ‘Development of Skin Anti-aging Materials from Natural Products and Commercialization Technology’, the center was also awarded the Presidential Citation at the Life Industry Exhibition hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In addition, Saimdang Cosmetics Dermatology Research Center has proven its technology by winning the ‘IR 52 Jang Young-sil Award’ for the ‘Development of Anti-aging Herbal Cosmetics using Bioconversion Technology’
The Presidential Citation and
Jang Yeong-sil Award

are conferred to recognize the excellence of differentiated functional materials not announced by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, such as anti-wrinkle materials including safflower seed extract, martizenine, and caliconetin, as well as whitening materials including Panax-C2 and White-PCS. In addition, by developing 10 functional materials not announced by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Saimdang Cosmetics Dermatology Research Center has been confirmed for its new material development technology and excellent product quality both internally and externally. The research center is credited with raising the status of domestic cosmetic technology to the next level by developing differentiated functional cosmetics and the competitiveness of Saimdang Cosmetics.
